Amber Davies' Battle Against Illness During Legally Blonde Production

Former Love Island contestant, Amber Davies, currently starring as Elle Woods in 'Legally Blonde: The Musical', has taken decisive measures to recover from an illness that has temporarily paused her performance. Just four weeks after the show's launch, Davies, 29, had to step back, surrendering her role to understudy Hannah Lowther due to a chest infection.

Initially dismissing rumours of a backstage feud with Lowther, who typically plays Margot but steps into the lead role weekly, Davies clarified her health situation through social media. She was battling a severe chest infection that required her to extend her medication and seek additional medical interventions.

On Monday, Davies updated fans via Instagram, revealing that she has resorted to using an oxygen tank for an hour each day over three days in hopes of expediting her recovery. In her post, she noted that her course of antibiotics would likely need extending as recovery was slower than expected. "Oxygen tank 1 hour a day for 3 days to speed up recovery. Looks like I'll be needing to extend my time on the antibiotics as it's taking longer to budge than I'd anticipated," she posted.

The 'Legally Blonde' musical, based on the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon, has seen several adaptations since its initial Broadway debut in 2007. The current tour, however, has encountered various setbacks and fan frustrations. Recently, during a venue in Milton Keynes, producers opted for a concert format due to cast health issues, sparking demands for refunds from the audience.

This is not the first time the role of Elle Woods has been taken on by well-known faces, with previous performers including Faye Brookes and Lucie Jones. Despite these challenges, Davies remains committed to her role and is doing everything possible to resume her position on stage.

Fans of both Davies and 'Legally Blonde' are hopeful for her swift recovery, eager to see her shine as the iconic Elle Woods once more. Meanwhile, Hannah Lowther's portrayal continues to keep the show running smoothly, ensuring audiences still enjoy its vibrant and energetic performances.
